Busy inner suburbs clinic requires a locum VR doctor to work an afternoon shift Monday to Friday to cover Holidays for two weeks in January.

Editor, Doctor Q magazine

• A strong and demonstrated background in journalism required
• Ability to work approximately 60 hours in-house per month or 2 days per week

AMA Queensland is the State's peak lobby group for patients and doctors, and is currently recruiting for an Editor to produce the Association's award-winning monthly magazine, Doctor Q

Essentially we are looking for:
A strong and demonstrated background in journalism or writing as well as proof reading and editing
Writing experience within the medical or health field (highly considered, not essential)
Ability to work approximately 60 hours in-house per month or two days per week
Own transport required, limited public transport access
Flexibility around the magazine production process
Applicant seeking to take creative ownership of this evolving publication
Highly organised in relation to planning and time demands
Managerial experience to direct the Graphic Designer and editorial team
A degree or qualification in Journalism, Public Relations or Communications is preferred
A self-starter willing to take initiative in the creative production of the magazine with the full support of the editorial team

The magazine is produced in-house and consequently it is also a requirement of the Editor to work in-house, as this allows full access to the organisation's resources used in the production of the magazine, with office space, computer and telephone all provided
However, the role is also very flexible to the demands of the magazine and family life, allowing the Editor to work hours around these demands with the full support of the editorial team

This is a unique opportunity for a proactive, experienced writer to take the lead in co-ordinating the production of this flagship, high profile publication - all with the benefits of flexible working hours within a supportive and friendly office environment

Key responsibilities for the Editor include the following:
Planning the magazine content; co-ordinating the flow of contributed articles; having input into the look and feel of the magazine and monthly input into images used; editing all contributed copy; assisting with story planning; writing bulk of feature stories; editing all feature stories; managing liaison with the Graphic Designer; and responsibility for the final proof sign-off
