Working in a team of 5 you will be solely in charge of the Desktop Environment consisting of around 100 users
It is your responsibility to ensure optimum availability of desktop and laptop computers running on Windows 2000/XP operating systems and internal phone systems
On a day to day basis you will be involved in the installation of new hardware and software, diagnosing and troubleshooting faults, investigating new technologies and making recommendations on how the desktop environment could be improved


You will also be involved in project work on an ad hoc basis, 1st line helpdesk support, training users, the organization of the team roster and managing the relationship with vendors for desktop hardware

In terms of experience you will have:

18 months experience in a desktop support role in a Windows 2000/XP/Vista environment

You must have strong Knowledge of LAN Technologies (Ethernet, Switch, Routers etc)
Solid knowledge of MS Office software

Any experience with PABX Systems, working in a SLA driven environment, exposure to NT Server Administration, WAN technologies, firewalls and Anti Virus software are highly regarded however not essential as my client is renowned for the training and development of their staff


You must have excellent communication skills, be a friendly, helpful and approachable person who is always looking to go the extra mile
You must be able to take ownership and work autonomously, have impeccable organization skills and have the ability to cope with interruptions throughout the working day


This role would ideally suit someone who has been part of a large organization as part of the Desktop team but are now looking to take on more responsibility and be solely in charge of the desktop environment or someone who has been doing a similar role in a 40
50 user environment and is now looking to step up
