Lab Technician Visy Paper
Visy Industries is one of the world’s largest privately owned paper recycling and packing companies
Visy Pulp and Paper is a division of Visy Industries and has Mills that are the most technologically advanced Pulp and Paper Mills in the world
We have nine paper recycling machines in Australia and USA
An opportunity has arisen for a Lab Technician to work with two of the Visy Industries divisions on a 6 month project at our Smithfield location with Visy Paper and Visy Recycling
The Lab Technician will collect, sample and report on our waste paper streams for our two divisions ensuring our Visy specifications are met, you will report to our project leaders
Key Responsibilities:
Collect samples of each specified source at specified times
Prepare and perform testing of samples
Ensure all reporting of test results are entered into our reporting system including weights of the waste streams
Arrange delivery of results to National Tech Centre weekly
Return excess samples and residuals to the waste collection
Co-ordinate the data collection for the on-going weighing of the waste
Identify and report any equipment or testing issues
Ensure all Site policies and procedures are met on a daily basis including 5's in your work area
Adhere to the site Occupational Health and Safety regulations
Ensure operational KPI’s for waste paper is met
Personal Attributes to succeed in this role:
Minimum of 1 year experience in a wet chemistry laboratory
Must have intermediate Excel skills
Excellent communications and time management skills
Must have a Year 12 Maths certificate
Previous experience as an Lab Technician or worked in an manufacturing environment will be highly regarded
Good problem solving and troubleshooting skills
The successful applicant will be required to work every second Saturday as apart of this project
