Inner-south Canberra Location Initial contract through until June 2009 - Part Time Reputable Federal Government Department Our prestigious and dynamic Federal Government Department is seeking an experienced and qualified Senior SOE Engineering Team Member to assist with the Departments' LAN/WAN architecture as well as participate in the implementation, technical oversight and high level support where required
This position will be for two days a week with the ability to increase to five days a week as required by the workload
You will be working within an exciting working environment within the section that oversees evaluation, testing, implementation and supporting of telecommunications and LAN/WAN services
Your main responsibilities will include: Implementation of high level and detailed designs; Provide support of the core and remote site LAN and WAN infrastructure including routers and switches, communications equipment and equipment software configurations; Provide documentation on development and evaluation activities undertaken; and Provide training of support staff in new developments If you are in possession of the following skills and qualifications, this is the ideal working environment for you to showcase these: Good working knowledge of network switches, their configuration, installation and operation; Extensive knowledge and experience with routers, their configuration, installation and operation; Strong understanding of LAN and WAN protocols; Good working knowledge of WAN communications methods including satellite operation; and Familiarity with secure networks and high grade encryption systems is highly desirable, as is very strong networking knowledge

This is a part-time role which is expected to require a commitment of 36 hours per fortnight
These hours can be divided up over the fortnight with some flexibility


This is a varied role which will primarily focus on the following areas of responsibility:


Ensuring all payment requests (manual & EFT) are prepared, authorised, coded, processed and documented


Monthly credit card administration: ensuring timely completion by all cardholders, accurate expense coding (including FBT analysis) and filing

Travel advances: organising funding, collection, banking and reconciliation of all travel advances

Petty cash: administering ad hoc disbursements

Expense reporting: assisting the manager with monthly variance analysis

Assisting the manager and team members with other tasks as required

You should have experience of working in a busy environment and will have a flexible attitude, with the ability to liaise with staff at all levels
The role will require you to organize and process financial information for a wide range of colleagues, therefore excellent communication skills are a must
Strong Excel ability is also highly desired
