Central TAFE is establishing a pool of suitable applicants for appointment to lecturing vacancies in this subject area that arise during the next two (2) years
With the introduction of extended recruitment pools, applications will be accepted throughout the two (2) year advertising period, with appointments being made on an as needs basis
Appointments may be made on a full-time, part-time, permanent or contract basis
Please note that a new industrial agreement is currently being negotiated for 2008 – 2010 and the salary rates are likely to increase
Within the Learning Portfolio for Sport, Education and Disabilities, the Lecturer – Fitness works as a member of a team to implement College, Division and Portfolio strategic objectives
The Fitness Lecturer plans, develops and delivers training and assessment to prepare participants for employment within the Fitness industry
They are required to present information, skills and knowledge within industry specific contexts and to assess students’ performance against industry competency standards
Knowledge, skills and experience relevant to personal training, group exercise instruction and strength and conditioning is required
Applicants should demonstrate a strong customer focus and genuine interest in education and training
They will be adaptable, a willingness to seek constant improvement in their professional competence and a commitment to maintaining current industry standards in their delivery
SELECTION CRITERIA: Applicants demonstrate evidence of the following fundamental requirements of this position: 1
Current knowledge and competencies in the Fitness industry

At least 5 years of vocational or lecturing experience relevant to the Fitness industry

Well developed written and verbal communication skills
4
Well developed organisational skills, including the ability to work in a team environment
5
Demonstrated ability to facilitate and encourage learning using several modes of delivery
6
Demonstrated initiative and self motivation
7
Ability to demonstrate an understanding of Equal Opportunity principles and develop appropriate strategies to incorporate these into the learning environment
8
Understanding of and experience using information technology (eg word processing, internet and spreadsheets)
Minimum Qualifications 1
It is preferred that applicants already possess a Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training (or higher recognised teaching qualification) or can demonstrate progression towards the Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training
However, applicants without the above are still eligible to apply but must obtain the Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training within their first 2 years of employment

Relevant post-secondary qualifications and/or industry registration in fitness
